Ian Turns 9 years old!

Rough week....

For those of you that follow our blog, you are probably already aware that we have been experiencing one of the worst weeks ever with Ian. For some reason, none of his medications are working and his aggression is greatly increased. His verbal skills are deteriorating which is causing him more frustration. We are attempting to find some emergency assistance to help us control his behaviors at home and school. JJ, Tomi, Robyn & I have been shift working with him and today is the first day back to school this week. We have several appointments set up to visit some SPED programs in neighboring districts and our behavior specialist is visiting his school on Friday. We will see his doctor on Monday and have an ARD meeting scheduled for Wednesday. MISD is hoping to find an alternative program in a neighbor district that will serve his needs better. We are sad because we moved to Melissa so Ian could grow up in these schools but are aware of the growing pains that our district is experiencing in the area of special education. The Collin County Special Education Co-op will desolve June 1st and Melissa will be a stand alone program. We are all praying for the adminitration in hopes that they will hire the right person to head up and develope the SPED program. But, for now, we agree that OUR child will be served better in another district. Please continue praying for our family and Ian as we seek a solution.
